Central, Philippines

i am beginning to suspect that when England ceded Hong Kong to China in 1997, part of the condition was to turnover Central to the Philippines. or else, a tripartite agreement that each nation has rights over Central.

a sign on Prince's Building. hmm...

WOW! That's the first time I saw a Filipino signage in Hongkong. That just means that the Filipino population in Hongkong is enormous. I was in Hongkong last December and it happened to be a Sunday when we went to The Peak. At the bus station in Central (I think), Filipino OFWs were everywhere; along the sidewalks, at the stairs, near the bus station and flyovers. What was so sad about that scene was that they look like they were stranded or homeless because they used cardboard boxes as their floormats and to use as dividers as they huddled into certain groups. It was heart-breaking for me to see them that way. I wish the government will do something, like maybe giving them their own park where they can all congregate decently. Your blog just reminds me of that scene...Anyway, have fun!

you're right, mich. i also hope HK will give the ofw a permanent place to spend their day-offs in. actually, if you go up The Peak on holidays, and walk the walking trails, you will find South Asian groups (not sure if all of them are Indians) huddled around the outdoor parks as well.
